Nothing in this Atelier begins with an answer.

It begins with observation.

Every movement that follows depends upon that first discipline. Before the root can be identified, it must first be observed. Before something can be called true, it must first withstand observation from every direction it allows. The order is intentional because the order protects the work.

That discipline extends beyond the people I work with. It governs my writing, my teaching, my philosophy, and every conclusion I am willing to place my name beside. Observation is not one part of the work.

It is the condition that makes the work possible.
