ELDERBERRY CONCENTRATE
INGREDIENTS
½ cup elderberries
48 ounces water (to start)
1 slice lemon
1 cinnamon stick
INSTRUCTIONS
Bring water to a boil with elderberries, lemon slice, and cinnamon stick.
Let boil for 15 minutes.
You may need to add more water as it reduces.
Once done, let the mixture cool.
Move the concentrate to a carafe.
Refrigerate.
USAGE
This is a concentrate I only use as a shot when I’m not feeling well.
To make a cold brew tea, I mix 1 cup elderberry concentrate with 2 cups of water, then add honey and a slice of lemon.
For a refreshing mocktail, mix 1 cup sparkling water, 1 cup elderberry concentrate, and ½ cup pineapple or orange juice.
For a nourishing breakfast, combine 1 cup elderberry concentrate with 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice, and garnish with an orange slice.
The most important is to have this as a hot tea adding 1/2 water with lemon and honey, when you are not well.
